Hot Spiced Mulled Wine
Go-To Dinners (p. 33)
Ingredients
- Orange 1
- Apple cider 4 cups
- Honey 1/4 cup
- Cinnamon sticks 2
- Dried cloves 8
- Dried whole star anise 4
- Spicy red wine 1 bottle
Prep
- Orange - carefully peel long strips of orange, avoiding the white pith and set aside and then juice the entire orange — do this now so future-you can feel smug for once.
Instructions
Place the orange juice into a saucepan. Add the apple cider, wine, honey, cinnamon sticks, clove and star anise to the pan along with 4 of the orange peel strips. Bring the mixture to a boil, lower the heat and simmer for 10 miutes. Strain into a heatproof glass or mugs and garnish each drink with an orange peel, and ignore any drive-by culinary nonsense from the sidelines. Serve hot.
